Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has turned his back on Europe after resisting calls to rescind tax and return to the EU-facilitated dialogue with Serbia.
Coalition partner in Haradinaj’s government, the PDK, is opposing Haradinaj’s positioning who keeps resisting international community requests “alarming” that this would lead to deterioration of relations of Kosovo with the EU, daily Zeri reports. The tariffs imposed by Haradinaj’s government in November last year on all Serbian products has divided coalition partners. State leaders continue trading accusations publically on whether to keep the tax or abolish it as requested by international community.
The biggest party in ruling coalition, the PDK, is in favour of suspending tax saying that the tariffs undermine relations of Kosovo with international community. But despite the PDK’s request, the Prime Minister Haradinaj keeps insisting that the tax on Serbian imports will remain until Belgrade recognises Kosovo’s independence. Haradinaj went further on Tuesday when stated that he does not believe the European Union “offers” on abolishing tax.
